NAME: Mia (Katarina Gunilla) Andersson
CANON: Original
AGE: 22
CANON POINT: Mia has just tried and failed to get into a few music colleges so she is in a very “fuck it” kind of mood.
BACKGROUND: Mia is the only child of Assar and Eira Andersson. She grew up in the south of Sweden on an old farm near the city of Ystad. The family’s primary source of income is the land they own since they lease out to local farmers to grow their crops on.
On the farm lives Eira’s two sisters, Freja and Hulda, who both also have three children each. Eira planned on trying to match it but Assar made it clear that he didn’t want more children.
Assar is a jazz musician and has always had to do a lot of traveling in his work, going on tours and out on gigs, but he has always been a very loving and attentive father and Mia adores him. Listening to him play was always her main escape from the pressure she constantly feels to join in the family “business” of being guardians of the border between the human realm and the Other Side.
All children born into the family have a direct line to the spirit world, and for generations have formed a coven of sorts that work in a wider network of such groups to make sure that dead things stay dead, that demons don’t go possessing people willy nilly and that the things that go bump in the night don’t bump people too hard.
Mia wants nothing to do with any of this. Sure she’s been talking to ghosts since she was a child, but she does not in any way wish to be part of the coven. She wants to be a musician.
In all honestly she is a little lost, though she would never admit it to anyone. She has reached a point where she has to start trying to get into colleges if she wants to keep studying, and so far it is not going particularly well. She doesn't lack talent, but somehow luck just hasn't been with her.
She's been taking courses and living away from home for a couple of years now, and she is pretty much desperate to not go back. She will do just about anything really, but she would prefer to do something she actually enjoys. She is doing some freelance work with her dad, but she isn't entirely sure that she can make enough doing that to provide her with a stable "away from the family" environment.
PERSONALITY: Being constantly at odds with the majority of her family has made Mia somewhat reluctant to really let people in. She’s sociable and friendly, with a large serving of sass on the side, but when things start to get serious she tends to just joke it off or get sarcastic.
She is an excellent liar, having had to often fabricate stories about where she’s been or what she has been doing, since she and her mother very rarely see eye to eye when it comes to those subjects.
Music is one of the few ways in which she is perfectly comfortable with expressing strong emotions, because she can pretend as if they aren’t her own. She is pretty attached to the image she has created of herself as this tough chick who doesn’t let anything get to her.
She’s friendly though, she likes people, and the connection she feels when she expresses herself in front of an audience is almost something of an addiction to her because she does crave to feel like she belongs, she just hasn’t figured out how yet.
She can share a lot about herself when it comes to certain subjects, and then when it comes to others she is incredibly reluctant to say much at all. She will tell you about any weird little quirk that goes on with her physical body, but feelings are a whole other matter.
She also doesn’t want to discuss her magical abilities at all. She will if pressed, but it is going to make her angry, and that is one feeling she actually doesn’t have a problem with expressing at all. Getting pissed off at things is fine, it’s actually something of an outlet for her when she just can’t joke things off or pretend like she doesn’t care anymore.
INCENTIVE: She wants to get rid of her connection to the “other side”. She wants to be made a completely normal human being.
FIT: I think she’s a good fit for the game because she doesn’t have any problem at all with the offer that the representatives give, and it could be a lot of fun to explore ways of getting her to open up, and maybe even to accept the parts of herself that she is in Eudio to get rid of.
CONSENT: Mia would never be physically intimate with anyone without enthusiastic consent. Respecting boundaries of all kinds is very important to her since it is something she doesn’t exactly feel as if she has received herself.
